It's already Spring, and we can't believe how fast time is flying by! We are three months out from New Year's and there is plenty to celebrate. This year, we have seen a lot of new faces, which means a lot of new vapers. Are you one of them? If so, congratulations on your decision to make the switch to vaping...you should be as proud of yourself as we are of you!
There is more to quitting smoking than the nicotine fix. Smoking is a habit beyond the addiction that effects you physically and mentally. There is the hand-to-mouth compulsion, the deep breathing of the inhale and exhale that can relax you, and the satisfaction of seeing the smoke produced. Luckily, vaping attends to all these factors that will help you become a successful ex-smoker.
However, some people still find it difficult to make the switch and stick to it. There are several factors that may be hindering your success. If you have recently started vaping, but still having trouble putting down the smokes, maybe you just need to make a minor adjustment to get back into the vaping saddle.
1. DO YOU LIKE THE FLAVOR OF YOUR VAPE?
The best part about vaping is the wide variety of flavors you have to chose from. If your vape doesn't taste good, you are more likely to set it aside. Try to pick a flavor that you enjoy naturally in foods and drinks. A good all day vape can make a huge difference in whether or not you stick to it. If you aren't saying, "Dang! That's delicious!", then you may be in the market for a new flavor.
2. ARE YOU ON THE PROPER NICOTINE LEVEL?
When you are coming off of traditional smokes, the nicotine level of your juice should mimic how much you smoked a day. Heavy smokers (a pack or more per day) should be starting on a higher nicotine level such as 12mg or 18mg. Lighter smokers don't need as much nicotine, so they would be starting on a 6mg. Too much nicotine will feel harsh and heavy in your lungs; however, not enough will not satisfy your craving. If you were never a smoker, we highly encourage you to chose a juice with zero nicotine.
3. WHEN DID YOU LAST CHANGE YOUR COIL?
Every vaping device uses a coil; which is the heating element inside the tank. If your juice taste burned or your device is not producing the amount of vape you are used to, it may be time to replace the coil. No matter the brand or style of tank, the coil needs to be replaced about every two weeks. Depending on how much you vape, it may be sooner than two weeks.
4. ARE YOU GETTING A BIG ENOUGH HIT?
The throat hit and lung hit are an essential part of vaping, especially if you are quitting smoking. Sometimes the starter pens do not deliver a big enough vape hit to give you the feeling you get from puffing on a cigarette. A variable voltage or variable wattage battery will be a stronger power source that is able to push a bigger vape.
